Dr. Milan DjericGeneral SURGEON | CAREWISE HEALTHDr. Milan Djeric is an experienced Australian-trained General Surgeon currently practicing at the Western Skin Institute and CareWise Health. He completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania in 1986 and subsequently undertook accredited general surgical training at several major Australian hospitals, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Hobar Hospital and Launceston General Hospital. Following the completion of his specialist training, Dr. Djeric commenced practice as a General Surgeon in Hobart, Tasmania, in 1997. Alongside his general surgical work, he has contributed extensively to the Melanoma Unit of Tasmania, gaining significant experience in the diagnosis management, and surgical treatment of melanoma and other skin cancers. Special Interests Dr. Djeric's clinical and surgical interests include: Skin cancer surgery Ingrown toenail surgery Lumps and bumps surgery Sebaceous cyst removal Lipoma excision He is known for his meticulous surgical technique, patient-centered approach, and commitment to delivering safe, effective and evidence-based care. |  |
Dr. Joe HuGeriatrician specialist | carewise healthAt CareWise Health, we are proud to have Dr Joe Hu as part of our specialist team. Dr Hu is a Melbourne‑trained Geriatrician who graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2014 and completed his specialist training in Geriatric Medicine at Monash Health and Peninsula Health. Dr Hu brings extensive experience across all major areas of geriatric care, with particular expertise in the diagnosis and management of dementia, Parkinson’s disease, cognitive decline, falls, frailty, and complex polypharmacy. His approach reflects the CareWise Health philosophy — combining clinical excellence with compassion, ensuring every patient receives personalized, respectful, and holistic care. He works closely with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to support safe, coordinated, and evidence‑based treatment plans that enhance quality of life for older adults. Outside of his clinical work, Dr Hu enjoys reading, planning holidays, and organizing family gatherings — interests that reflect his warm, thoughtful, and community‑focused nature. |  |
Dr. Steven LeonardGeriatrician specialist | carewise healthAt CareWise Health, we are pleased to welcome Dr Steven Leonard, an experienced Geriatrician and valued member of the CareWise Specialist Group. Dr Leonard will begin consulting at our St Albans centre from mid‑July, expanding our specialist services for older adults and their families. Dr Leonard completed his specialist training in Geriatric Medicine through Monash Health and Peninsula Health (Frankston Hospital). He has since practised across both metropolitan and rural Victoria, gaining extensive experience in the assessment and management of complex geriatric presentations. His clinical approach reflects the CareWise Health philosophy — combining evidence‑based medicine with compassion, dignity, and a deep respect for each patient’s individual goals and quality of life. Dr Leonard works collaboratively with GPs, families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, holistic, and person‑centered care. Dr. Gowri SomarajahENDOCRINOLOGIST | carewise healthConsultant Physician & Endocrinologist specializing in diabetes, We are pleased to welcome Dr Gowri Somarajah, Consultant Endocrinologist and Specialist Physician, to CareWise Specialist Group. Dr. Gowri brings extensive experience across both hospital and private settings, with a particular focus on diabetes, metabolic health, and weight management.
Dr. Gowri welcomes referrals across all areas of endocrinology, including thyroid and pituitary conditions, diabetes (Type 1 & 2), PCOS, osteoporosis, and male and female reproductive endocrinology. She brings a particularly unique and evidence- based scientific approach to the management of patients with obesity — addressing the complex metabolic, hormonal, and psychological drivers of weight with a highly individualized treatment plan.
